Long term Housing exchange

Since most of you have lived in many places... do you have any advice on housing exchange sites? I google and found a few of them. Any one has any experience to share? I am reluctant to pay to become a member if they are useless.
I have finished my field work for a new book and I will take a sabbatical in 2013 to write the book. We have a very nice PH/House here (around 150 Sq Meters plus 80 Sq meters terrace) and we would like to exchange it for a flat or house somewhere else to take a break from BA. Our kids are very young so they will not miss school. We are looking for a country where we can live legally (so that is probably only in Europe or is other place where you can be a permatourist?).
We could also rent our place here but with the dollar restrictions and AFIP charging you taxes for anything, it may be too complicated.
Any idea?
