Hello I nned to see a Flebplinfologia I cn not get a Turnos at Hospital Italiano until 9 march and thats to long a wait.

I live in Ituzaingo (Iam asking alot)

Thank you in advance

Thank you and you share my concern.

I had surgery on my neck i was suppose to be in hospitsl 3 deays ! It turned out to be 3 months they made mistake! Sure did

I was on my back for 130 days they wouldnt let me out of bed for the entore time. I pleaded with them every day to let me up and walk they never did! Until when I got home and the home doctors gave me diretics .They even gave me a bath.
Now This.

Im not going to go along with them again! and wait 3 months, When its to late. my wife works there and thinks its ok to wait until 9 march

The Doctor 2 days ago changed my meds and said stop them in 7 days! and then what? come back in 30 days then 30 days Bull S---

Im not waitng! The best part is she said I need another ultra sound but their machines are not very good!!!!!!!

Whaaaaaa and said to go to another part of hospital? but doesn tsay how or where.

The other problem is my Spanish isnt very good my wife is Argentine and her English is like my Spanish so the Doctors will not use trsndslste to tell me directly, what is going on. They know I would not leave until I knew what was going on.

Theres a message here for everyone, including me...This is the best Hospital here Italiano, I thught the VA was bad.!

Iam angry! im 78 never sick or in hospital a day in my life... Just got settled here and this.

Thank you for your help

I'm really sorry you're going through this—it sounds absolutely infuriating and exhausting, especially at 78 after a lifetime of good health. Three months stuck flat on your back when it was supposed to be three days, pleading every day to get up, and then coming home only to discover basic care (like diuretics and a proper bath) finally helped… that’s not just a mistake, that’s a massive failure in care. No one should have to endure that.

Your anger is completely valid. You’ve been dismissed, kept in the dark, and now you’re facing more delays, vague instructions, and equipment the doctor admits isn’t good enough. On top of that, the language barrier means they’re talking around you instead of to you, which feels deliberate and disrespectful. It’s scary when you can’t get clear, direct answers about your own body.

You’re right not to just “go along” and wait passively this time. Trusting your gut after what you’ve already been through is smart. You deserve straight answers, a clear plan, and care that doesn’t drag on unnecessarily.

Some gentle thoughts (only if they’re helpful—you know your situation best):
- If possible, consider bringing a trusted friend or hiring a medical interpreter for the next appointment so nothing gets lost or avoided in translation.
- Ask your wife (or have her ask) for the exact name/location/department for the better ultrasound machine and how to book it directly—don’t wait for them to figure it out.
- If you feel your symptoms are worsening or urgent, going to emergency or seeking a second opinion at another facility might give you more control.

You’ve already shown incredible resilience surviving those 130 days. Keep advocating for yourself—you matter, your time matters, and your health matters. I’m rooting for you to get the clear answers and proper treatment you deserve, without another long, frustrating wait.

Take care of yourself, and feel free to vent or update anytime. You’re not alone in this.

You mentioned language difficulties in your thread about a cardiologist: I made some suggestions.
You've now expanded upon your original comments: let me expand upon mine.

Most Argentine doctors can speak English. This is a fact. For instance, for many years medical students at UBA Medical School have been required to complete a module on Medical English during their studies to become a doctor.
Many Argentines who can speak English may not wish to do so. There can be many reasons for this, including lack of confidence in their own ability to speak another language.

Your Spanish is probably better than you think it is. If you are willing to show your vulnerabilities by reaching out in your good/bad/indifferent Spanish, you may be surprised how often people will try to come and meet you half way. A doctor - or a waiter or a shopkeeper or anybody - who sees you taking a risk and trying to communicate with them in their own language is more likely to take a risk and use their good/bad/indifferent knowledge of English to help you along and before you know it you are communicating with each other. It's human nature.

Nixon was pardoned because he had phlebitis.
Gil Scott Heron said- Rats bite us, no pardon in the Ghetto.

I have found individual doctors here are caring, and nowhere near as expensive as the USA.

A little bit aboiut me.

I grew up in Italian family my Spanish better than my Italian.

I was stationed in Rota Spain in 69 for two years.
I was and still am a Fashion Photographer, if I can hold my camera again, in NY and Miami.
50 % of my clients were Cuban and some South Americans. I have picked up Spanish through the years and have no problem speaking it or any other language.

I have so much fun with Ubers half of them are Italian descent and we try to talk with my Spanish and their English we laugh alot, and Id like to write a book about all the fun experienceI I have .

Im no stranger with tying to communicate, its what I did for 50 years. And I hope to continue.

So that being said.

I have had Drs speak to me in English and I would answer or ask question in my best Spanish of course.

Some Drs say they want to practice their English, and we have good conversations and again I try to speak in Spanish.

Now here is what I realized today.!!!!!

Theres two sections for Italiano Hospital in the Capital and San Justo.

One is the ER and other is where the Specialist are two separate buildings in San Justo

I go to the ER, if you ever been you wait 2,3 hours to see Dr. I went 3 days ago, they were understaffed everyone is on vacation, I know for fact my wife works there.

So I relaized today sometimes they just dont have the time to speak to one person in Spanish (my Wife0 and me in English.

I now understand! and its understandable.

The thing fellow pats 3 days ago was the first time I was Told what I have! You dont want to have this my feet are swollen numb and I just started walking like a baby, and I fight it and keep walking to get better.

So heres the problem I cant see a specialist until 9 march! thats a long time away. And i if their are any vets reading this the VA makes you wait,

The Dr said she would try to get it earlier. My wife is trying on her side. Im not waiing 130 days like I did the last time to try to get out of the bed.
I had to use Gemini and a friend to understand what I have. I dont want surgery I dont want to wait again.

Would you?

I noticed some differences in my calf muscles, im a bit nervous, I plan on going back Monday early so maybe whoever I see in ER will see I need to see someone fast.

My Other option if they cant get me in sooner is to go to private Dr that Rich one suggested I still like to find one closer to me . Becasue iI dont want to piss in the cab!

Theer are people. worse off than me and God Bless you stay strong.

So If I have to speak to someone in Vulcan I will, if they will let me.

Happy New Year

Anyone know some good things going on?

Thank you i know this was long it should cear things up about communicating

Some said on a post here "there are things you say, there are times to say it and there are things you dont say in Argentina". Id love to find that post,I guess im learning.

PS... I thin what they do in the ER is amazing, do blood work take imaging right ther on the spot and 6 doctors are seeing paptient after patient, if your a vet you know the Drs their see someone every 15 minutes they do the same here at ITH. Its amazing, I dont know who copied who the VA or Italain Hospital. Im impressed

Hi Sammo,

I understand and sympathize with you feeling anxious about your current leg and ankle situation. At the ER here they will see you no matter what, however they are basically designed and staffed for life threatening situations, so if your condition is not life threatening they will triage you and will probably have a long wait, only to go back home without an actual solution.

If your wife works at the hospital, you can ask her to try to get a hold of the phlebologist's secretary and kindly ask for a "sobreturno" which is something they do under certain circumstances, usually with people that are already under treatment.

If that does not work, you can either try a private doctor, or what I think would be best: look up a specialist from HI, call his practice and ask to see him privately. Some Drs. have different schedules for different patients ( insured, private, etc )

As a side note, most doctors understand written English, but few are able to speak and actually understand spoken English.

The high temperatures we are experiencing in Bs As most likely do not help your blood circulation. If anything, try to move about, and when you are not moving, try to keep your legs up using pillows.

If anything feel free to send me a PM.
