Hi guys,

I'll be going to Buenos Aires this coming week, possibly to live long term but for at least a few months to start. I want to get a private Spanish tutor to help me get up to speed in Spanish as fast as possible. I actually got really good at it like 20 years ago but am pretty out of practice and never got anywhere near fluent. I was hoping to find someone who can do a few hours a day but in a more easy going environment - like we could go places together and work on situational vocabulary and conversation (like to the park, shopping, eating, etc), instead of just working from books.

Does anyone know a good place to find a tutor or have any recommendations? And can you tell me how much something like this would cost? I will be in Boedo.

Thank you for your help

Carrie

Cost-wise, I've found private lessons here to be between USD $20-30 per hour.

However, if you're looking to get up to speed, going to an intensive class might give you more opportunities to meet and speak with other people in a less structured manner. Plus, private lessons tend to only be one hour at a time, which it sounds like isn't what you're looking for. UBA or other intensive classes like the one below are some good options:

Plenty of tutors from any language institution, although it can be pricey, but it's in person, it's better.

Or you can try Preply, it's online one on one. I hired a former professor from University of Salvador as my private spanish tutor for past two years, and she only charges me 15 dollar per hour, and definitely you can find some more cheaper price to fit your budget. Have fun.

Here's a great place for affordable private Spanish lessons, around $8 an hour. They prefer to have classes of two hours or longer. After you pay for 10 lessons they probably would be open to meeting somewhere close to their school in San Telmo. I also took classes at Lenguas Vivas up to their highest level and felt they spend way too much time on the subjunctive tense. Their text books are very good and you probably don't have to be a student to buy them.

This is great and more affordable, I'll definitely reach out to them. Thank you!
