Hi guys

Last night as I was using my mac book air, with the "mac safe 45" charger plugged in. Suddenly when my battery showed 60%, the charger just died!

I tried to plug in at different plug points in the apartment but to no avail.

i searched all mac discussion forums and tried several things but to no avail.

The charger is less than 10 months old but bought in US.

The worst thing is that I called 5-6 mac stores in Capital and NO one has a new charger so sell.

What to do?

Anyone has a spare macbook charger to sell to me?

I guess the only way out is to travel to another country to buy the charger? and maybe buy two of them for the future because these chargers often break down.

Any immediate solutions?

Several days ago in Pucón, the charger for my MacBook Pro appeared to have died, but it suddenly revived itself and has worked well ever since.

I'm selling a Macbook Pro (with a 8 month old charger). I know this isn't the answer you're looking for,
but try Mercadolibre or if you want a whole laptop it might be the same cost as flying somewhere
to buy 2.

Just thought I'd mention it.

Had the same problem with my Macbook Pro and could get a new one from ipoint next to Alto Palermo - did you try there?

yes, first I called everyone on phone. They said they did not have it.

Then went to IPoint ( palermo) and macstation. They did not have it on display. So I guess they dont really have it!

Saw many options in Mercado libre. Will buy one of them. Obviously, they will be without 1 year warranty. What a mess!

Same problem. Paid outrageously for a replacement MacBook power cord, it lasted 6 months.
Now I buy all apple power and USB cords in duplicate.

One thought, maybe one of us could make a periodic Apple runs.

lesson learnt. To have 2 mac book airs, 3 chargers, 2 iphones , 3 chargers at all times.

Also you can try MacSoul on Callao or that galleria where they sell electronics???I'll be going to Apple in the US in July. I found myself in a similar desperate position and this time brought back duplicates of some chargers. But I too have heard that they are fairly available on mercado Libre. Thankfully!. The problem with getting these parts are the import restrictions! Don'tcha love Cristina's economic policies? next big thing: Colonia 'Mac" Runs?

Something similar happened to me:
My Magsafe 1 seemed to have died in January with 10 days left of my 3-month sojourn in BA, and I was still running my business, Skyping with clients, etc. There's a long thread on this forum in which people offered lots of helpful advice. Everything involved a solution that seemed more complex or expensive than I would have liked. In 10 days I could just pick one up at the Apple store in my neighborhood for $79 USD.

I had an hunch it would just entail a simple repair, even just to help till I got back to Florida.

So I googled something like "Magsafe 1 repair" and watched a few videos for tinkerers. I'm not a tinkerer. Then I found this article:

http://www.macworld....agsafe_fix.html

It gave me the idea that the cord might be partially damaged at one point, so I got a drinking straw, tape and scissors and set out to do the temporary repair myself. The article said to plug in the Magsafe 1 and connect it to the laptop, and soon the damaged spot would start to feel warmer than the rest, even if the computer is not charging. So I set the laptop on a counter, plugged it in and went to do something else while it warmed up. When I came back - lo and behold!! - the amber LED was lit, and my Macbook Pro was charging!! I figured out that I had been using the computer in two locations in the house in which the cord was always bent near one end or the other. When I made sure that the cord ran straight and smoothly from the connection at either end, the charger worked! That was almost 2 months ago, and it's been working perfectly ever since! Also, I had to get used to the fact that with everything older and some probable damage inside the wire casing, the LED sometimes takes longer to turn on, and it looks like it's dead. It just takes a few extra seconds.

See if this works for you!
