May 1 Holiday - what will be open?

I don't remember what was open last year on May 1 (Worker's Holiday). Apparently it is one of the few feriados where many things are actually closed (as opposed to the monthly/weekly where many places remain open in popular/touristy areas).

Will the usual suspects in Palermo be open....or will we have to resort to out of the box thinking to get our boozy Sunday afternoon on?

Well the whole point of May 1st is that no places should be open. But late night bars probably don't follow that rule so you should be good.

Simple really - stock up your home bar beforehand and all will be well (oh - and buy extra cigarettes - they're pretty cheap here anyway
