Migraciones Turno Monday - Messed Up

I went through the same. I had my FIRST (of many haha) migraciones appt at the end of Feb, just before my 90 days was up. I didnt have the right documents, and didn't go back until the end of May. In May, even though I was long overstayed, I still got my precaria (you have to pay $600 but that is a fee for the precaria and has nothing to do with overstaying), and once you have the precaria, your tourist visa is null and void (they will also give you a document that says that your immigration status has been normalized along with your precaria). I actually left the country about a month later and brought my precaria along and did not have to pay the fee, even though I had long overstayed before getting the precaria. Once you return for your second appointment with domicilio (assuming you have everything else), you'll get the precaria which is good for a few months until they can review your info and give you the residency.

If you have any bill in your name with your address...phone, utilities, light, cable, take it along on Monday. That often works to show domicile.

So what happened, were you able to get everything together, did they give you an extension for the CDI, or did they just tell you to come back in a few weeks?

So I screwed up, and I am feeling pretty stupid. I have a turno at Migraciones Monday at noon for the residencia precaria. Got my police report with DHL from Norway, got my Argentine police report, I am within 90 days of last entry, etc. BUT I hadn't really given much thought to the Certificado de Domicilio. (Really stupid of me, I know!) So I leisurely strolled into my local police station this morning around 8.30 - and was told that it takes a few days. I told the lady my situation, she was really nice and suggested I come back at 13:00 to talk to the guy who goes around to people's houses, and that maybe he'd agree to squeeze me in this afternoon. I went back at 13:00 and he said no, that he was not going to that part of the barrio today, and there was no way, but that he can come Monday afternoon. I wish he would have been flexible but totally understand that this is my own fault of course.

Did you cry? The key to getting sympathy from people in Argentina is crying - never confront or try to make a rational explanation.

Well, the funny thing is that there was a problem with another document, so I was sent away for that before they even checked the certificado de domicilio! Haha, funny how things work out. Everything else was fine though, like my antecedentes - at first she couldn't believe that the police in Norway provide antecedentes in Spanish but then they accepted it.

I expressed my concetn about the 90 days and she said not to worry about that, just make another appointment when I was ready, so that backed up what you guys had said.

Oh, and I didn't cry, it didn't get to that! I actually cry really easily so that would have been easy!
