Milanesa at Ezeiza

...Um, that isn't inflation. Just straight up price gouging. Probably been able to get so out of control at Ezeiza because it is so in the middle of nowhere.

There is a McDonalds in Ezeiza, more expensive than your regular Mac,but it is there.

In Antalya (Turkey) airport there is a Burger King which reportedly charges 3-4 times the usual price. Happens all around the world. Nasty how they abuse the fact that one is locked in to the area but probably even happening in comunist countries like kuba eventhough it violates their ideals :)

They are generally very pro-tourist there. In the airport in La Habana the luggage is wrapped free of charge so robberies do not happen there (in Ezeiza.... mmmm).

I always take my own food on planes.
I dont like the lukewarm baby food they serve, much less the ten dollar snack boxes you can buy on flights in the USA.
Tortas, empanadas, a little cold pizza- plus fruits and candy bars from the kiosk.
I often do break down and buy a fernet and coke in EZE, though.
Last one was 25 pesos, but I think they are even more now.

This is one of several reasons why you should always pack travel food! I always bring enough for at least a few snacks or small meals, supplies for making sandwiches, granola, fruit or other snack bars, etc., since you never know if you're going to get a delayed flight, etc. If you make it to your destination with fruit intact you may have to throw it away, but it's better than paying airport prices, every time.

Word. I always bring enough to feed myself for the next 12 hours or so - not only is it cheaper and tastier, but Aerolineas has a 98% failure rate of providing a vegetarian option (once a flight attendant sweetly snuck out one of the crew's meat-free dinners for me -- I didn't want to tell him that I still preferred the hummus and veggie sandwich I had brought.) Last time I flew EZE to MIA, I did have to throw away the apples and peach I hadn't gotten to... but it turns out U.S. Customs will let you keep bananas, so next time I know which fruit to eat first during the overnight flight.

Admiral's Club is a service provided by American Airlines, and my friend didnt travel with it. I think that a doggy bag will be an option next time. Thanks!!!

Even if you are flying American, you still have to have a paid membership to the Admiral's Club or have a certain status with them (platinum or exec platinum) just to gain entrance. Day passes cost more than a milanesa.

Just thought of this thread as I was charged 60 pesos for a ham and cheese sandwich and gatorade at EZE yesterday. I gasped when she told me the price. And to top it off - although the sandwich said it had been made that day, when I opened it, it was basically inedible. Cheese was rubbery and dry.

Contrast that with the airport at Lima - fresh (and GOOD) sandwich, apple, water and coke and chips came to 12 dollars (so 48 pesos). Twice as much food for 20% less price.
