Milei alters Internet rules to make way for Elon Musk’s Starlink

Current cost of Starlink for the smallest capacity lowest price plan -
$600USD for equipment up front.
$120USD a month, subject to future increases.
Like many Milei proclamations, this one will only help a very tiny number of the ultra rich.
Estancias will have Starlink.

I wouldn't expect you to understand why this is a good thing

I dont think its a "good thing", or a "bad thing".
I think its the truth.
even in the USA, Starlink is so expensive that only the upper 10% or so of the population can afford it. And currently, less than a half percent of the US population has chosen to pay for it.
This is just the way it is.
I certainly would not pay that much, in any country.
And in Argentina, its obviously true that the segment of the population that could afford starlink is probably under 1% , and, frankly, I would be amazed if more than a couple of hundred thousand people out of 40 million or so will actually pony up the dollars.
(business rates are higher)
Certainly, there will be customers, but for Milei, its another example of "flooding the zone with shit", as a US political strategist named this strategy.
It is a grand announcement of an ideological victory, but it affects neither the populace of Argentina, nor the internet service market of Argentina much at all.
99% of the population will still be unserved by this, but Milei can crow over another step towards a "free" market, without really changing anything.
Currently, about 92% of argentines live in urban areas, where fiber optic would be much more efficient and economical.

One problem in Argentina is the lack of high end product and services for rich people because peronism is a national socialism that is focus on the industrial worker only.

Sound more like tax free lithium extraction with zero benefit for Argentina with producing anything with it here creating zero jobs.
Do you seriously believe extracting lithium from Argentina land would not result in jobs and tax revenue for the Argentinian government? People can have different opinions about who benefits the most and whether the distribution of the profits are fair, the environment impact, etc...but your claim of zero benefit to Argentina and zero jobs is simply false.

Even the deployment of Starlink would result in jobs and tax revenue.
Getting the rich people in Argentina to spend their money IN Argentina is a good thing. Their spending create jobs and result in tax revenue.

Also, if Starlink can ensure a fast and reliable interconnection, it can cross off a major technical concern for businesses that want to setup offices in the country.

None of this will happen and you know it. The cost of internet will just go up and people will continue to suffer. A lot of the "expats" on this forum are unbelievably delusional and disconnected from reality. Goodness me.
