How is a morning after pill that terminates a pregnancy different from an abortion?

Except that many would say that it's not "invasive" (even though it really is).

Because it doesn't "terminate a pregnancy" at all...
It takes several hours for a fertilised egg to implant itself in the womb. The morning after pill a) prevents ovulation (depending on what stage of her cycle the woman is at)...much like the regular pill and b) changes the lining of the womb to stop the egg from implanting.
Many women (not using contraception) have fertilised eggs that just don't implant (for whatever reason). Its incredibly common and they never know about it... It's just something that happens. The morning after pill just makes sure that this happens to a possibly fertilised egg.

The abortion pill, which is completely different, terminates a pregnancy up to 9 weeks gestation.

But it doesn't matter anyway. The circumstances for emergency contraception are completely personal to the OP and he shouldn't be judged so harshly for asking a question...nor should he be judged, for that matter, if he had come on here to ask about abortion...which he didn't!

Thank you, Ashley, for making this distinction. *

My first reply was based on my perception of the terminology of the OP's user name.

I'm actually happy to be wrong about it...even though I'm a completely horrible human being.

*(Some believe that since the morning after pill and the abortion pill accomplish the same thing there is no moral difference between them.)
