The S is going to HTF, I think this is a safer place to be when that happens. B.A. is probably to densely populated for that but it's still better than CA, the entire N.E. and most of the big cities. Not to mention Europe (consider their population density.

I'd love to know what all this talk about SHTF is, what exactly do you think will happen and why?

This thread should be about you but it appears that some others believe otherwise.

Depending on where you'll stay, you'll be able to manage without little or no spanish. This will likely make things more expensive for you. Do not despair, most of the time you'll find people willing to go out of their way to help you.

If you tell us a little bit more about you and what are your plans once you get here it might be eaiser to provide you with essential guidelines. The board is full of them but each case is particular. After all, we're all individiuals

Do not worry about SHTF at this point, we're headed for elections soon enough and there's not likely to be major ripples until we're done with them.
