My Blog

Wow, what a terrible story :( It saddens me every example of such malfeasance that I hear. Horrible, horrible - and it makes us what to leave, not invest, stay away... (Maybe that's the point, sadly...)

Question... How come you focus your blog and so much energy against Macri? I've been in BA for 12 years, and, based on everything I've heard and know, this type of horribleness, this corruption of low (and high) level government functionaries, this terrible demanding of bribes -- it was common long before Macri, it has been going on for at least decades, with the same intensity or severity. Sure, Macri hasn't solved the problem, but that's different than him being the front man for the problem. This is a problem that has been around for decades... it's not like it's a new thing he did. That's my confusion.

That said: I support your anti-corruption position 1000% and I am horrified by what happened to you. I wish I could do something to help solve this problem... I don't know what...

PS: Building on my last point -- the implication of your anti-macri post is that, if there were a different government, this problem wouldn't happen (ie, the problem is just Macri, therefore, it can be solved by removing Macri). Do you really think that? Really? Really? I would say that the problem goes much deeper, and if we look at all previous governments, they had the same problem, and whomever comes after Macri will have the same problem as well.

Clarification also: note that this is NOT in any way a defense of their horribleness. It is seriously terrible and destructive on every level, without any qualification. I'm just saying that this horribleness is bigger than, and deeper than, the head of government, thus replacing him won't obviously help solve the problem...

I know the whole corruption thing in this city goes way back, however Macri promised change, for this very type of thing NOT to happen, and ok it happened anyway. So one would expect that going personally WITH SOLID PROOF to government offices that something would be done??? However I got totally ignored every single time I went. During the first court hearing their lawyers denied everything, stupidly enough, and of course, my lawyer presented our documents and witnesses and they SHUT UP pretty quickly and got all pissy at the judge when he moved the case forward!

Great and interesting blog. We share many of the same frustrations with BA, but I can tell we also like many of the same things about it. But I do think you are being harsh on Macri. I certainly think he is the lesser evil and that if Mr. Daniel Filmus would have won we would have been in a MUCH WORST situation and there would be far more corruption, not to mention the bias of the Capital Federal also being run by ¨K¨

The police and justice system in BA, and in Argentina as a whole is very corrupt, and I dont think any government can do much to change it because it is already so far in it, it would be an incredible feat for anybody, that´s why I think they are trying to roll with the punches, be it Macri be it Kretina be it Carrio, etc, etc, as much as I hate to say it, it is a dead dog that they are allowing to lay.
