The laws that affect opening accounts were significantly different seven years ago. It was easier then.
HSBC, both here and in my home country, have always given me very good service. But they are in hot water all over the world because of their Swiss Bank accounts scandal. Just heard it again tonight on CNN

Feeling sorry for HSBC as they are very helpful usually but I guess their helpful nature has come back to bite their ass.

The "dodgy" banks here have zero customer service and regard everyone as a criminal.
