It's testament to the power of English as the international language that the official abbreviation is of English words. Why use Latin lettering at all? And certainly not the language of your arch enemy...

How many of you have noticed English signs in BA? Should Argentina require public signs in Spanish, similar to the French language laws in Quebec?

What do you mean by public signs? Please note the following in El Calafate: http://tinyurl.com/oa4g3sn

In a very international world discouraging the use of second languages seems counter productive. Almost everywhere I have been there are people that speak 'a little english'. English is spread by computers-internet, tv, films, music .. Sometimes I have trouble finding tv in local language to help me learn ..its all english

No they should have bilingual signs. For example guarani in missiones, Quechua in salta and [background=rgb(249, 249, 249)]Mapudungun in the south west[/background]

English is the defacto language in Air Travel, AeroSpace, Oil, Engineering and Software. If you are in the US you will find anything you need to read in Spanish and maybe 5 other languages. In Argentina F U.
