New Exchange Rate On Wednesday

Visa cards are updated now

Has anyone taken money out of the ATM and then checked their online banking to see what exchange rate was given? I have a Wells Fargo debit card and when I called them they said the exchange rate depends on the ATM network. My card says Visa on the front and has a Plus logo on the back, which suggests that I would use the Plus network (which seems to be part of Visa). However most ATMs in this country are Banelco ATMS. So does ATM network mean Plus or Banelco? I couldn't find anything online about Banelco exchange rates.

Also, (and I know this has been bought up before many times on this forum but I wanted to hear the latest information) has anyone found a way to get more than 1700 pesos per withdrawal out of the ATMs. I heard that Citybank would allow you to withdrawal more but I tried and no luck. I am not in Buenos Aires but in Tucuman, so it might be different here. The ATM fees kill me and the Xoom partner here isn't doing transfers anymore.

So any word on what the exchange rate is when you take money out of ATM's?

Bostonio do you live in Tucuman? My partner is a Tucumána...

trennod: Yup, I have been up here about 6 years now. The mountains are nice and all that, but its not like BA!

Also regarding this ATM withdrawl matter, there is another thread open here: http://baexpats.org/topic/34672-atm-withdrawals-schwab-cards-and-the-new-exchange-rate/

BNA today with Schwab debit card ~ 13.24. http://baexpats.org/topic/34672-atm-withdrawals-schwab-cards-and-the-new-exchange-rate/page__st__10

I haven't tried to take money out of ATMs yet, but I did make two purchases today with the same debit card from BOA.

Starbucks: 13.14
Yenny: 12.75

I made the purchases within about 30 minutes of each other. Very strange that the same card from the same bank would give me two different rates so far apart - .49 difference. The peso has been rising today, maybe I hit some kind of cut-off with the rate of exchange or something between the two purchases. The first at Starbuck's was made just before 6:00 here and the other was after 6:00.

But on a lighter note (for me, anyway) - I changed money today and got 13.75 at my favorite arbolito, right at the sell rate that ambito.com publishes, while the official rate is at 12.86.
