The mentioned document establishes the minimum amount to qualify as rentista or pensionado as "cinco salarios minimos vitales y moviles". If one salario minimo vital y movil, as of April 1st, 2023 is $87.987 pesos, then, right now, five minimum salaries would be $439,935 pesos. You are right that if we use the official exchange rate that would mean US$2,000, but do people do that? If you receive a transfer in pesos, or convert from dollar blue it would be a little over $900 dollars.
It won't be what "people do". Migraciones will (presumably) simply convert the pension amount in the foreign currency (USD, for example) to the pesos at the official exchange rate for that currency at the time and see if the result in pesos exceeds the prevailing salario minimo in pesos. If it's less, I guess they will reject a new application. It would be interesting to know whether those currently on temporary pensionista and rentista residencies will now be re-tested to ensure they meet the new requirement (and what will happen to those who don't).The mentioned document establishes the minimum amount to qualify as rentista or pensionado as "cinco salarios minimos vitales y moviles". There shouldn't be a problem for most receiving an approved pension. If it's less, I guess they will reject a new application. It would be interesting to know whether those currently on temporary pensionista and rentista residencies will now be re-tested to ensure they meet the new requirement (and what will happen to those who don't).
That's bad news.
What would be the minimum income required for a family of four.....!!The title of the thread is misleading. The income requirement now also applies to the pensionista category. It's a major reform.
Assuming the S.V, & M. stays constant and Dollar Official value Goes up with inflation? Or both values go up and the ratio stays constant...? Or the SV&M goes up more..?If my math is correct the requirement of "cinco salarios minimos vitales y moviles" is more like 1800 USD at today's official rate, but if the inflation trend continues unabated it will be more like 1300 USD by year's end, so getting better.
