New youth criminal regime lowers age of responsibility to 14

Without knowing the physical destination of the minors convicted, it's hard to decide in favor of the conviction of minors over 14 yo. No or few facilities are equipped to handle minors, separated from adults...!

It's an excellent point - radicalization of the youth through gang recruitment is certainly a risk to evaluate.

One of the interesting points in this new law is the civil penalties parents can now incur through damages incurred by the offending minor.

Personally, I think it was a necessary change given gangs were pushing minors to commit crimes taking advantage of the legal impunity.

We'll see if this actually changes anything. Most of these teen motochorros are already aware their next robbery could be their last.

Prosecutors know what is the destiny of minors in the hands of wardens an hardened adult criminals..!
Some judges refused today to apply the law.

That's a big yawn from me. If you can't do the time, don't commit the crime. 14 is plenty old enough to understand consequences. We're talking about teens that have committed murder and torture pensioners for fun. I'd rather have the money go to universities and pubic hospitals than a juvenile correction facility, but we all know how that's going...
