Newbie Coming For A Visit.

One of Buenos Aires's greatest strengths is that it is NOT Las Vegas. Of course, I could say that about any other city that is not Las Vegas as well.

agree! ... but food scene in Vegas still better than here, nonetheless. ;)

Funny you mention it, Saturday night I had some excellent Peruvian food. I think my bias is swayed by the lack of good average Asian food compared to what I am used to.
What are good restaurants for Peruvian food?

The cheapest good Peruvian restaurant is Status, just a couple blocks from Congreso, but I have also heard good things about Chan Chan (on Mitre, if I recall correctly). Other good Peruvians, substantially more expensive, include Palermo's Bardot, Ceviche, and Astrid y Gastón (which now has a modestly priced midday lunch). I also like Belgrano's Contigo Perú and Lucumma. In all of these, pretty much, you have to request food to be prepared spicy - even if you tell them you can handle it, they probably won't believe you and you'll get something less than the "full peruano."
