It arrives on the 3rd for everyone that social security knows lives outside the USA... otherwise the date is set by your birthday.
I did not get mine either...I usually get it by midnight the night of the 3rd.
I contacted SS and they told me it was delivered on time to my bank (Schwab). I hadn't received it by early evening so I called Schwab. They said they had it but there was a hold on the deposit due to OFAC violation. OFAC is under the Treasury department and stands for Office of Foreign Asset Control. The customer service person sent a message to the Schwab department that handles OFAC...glad they had one. I got the email address of the customer service person I was working with and she sent me an email confirming she would get back to me by Monday.
After hanging up with Schwab and having been a banker for most of my life, I went to the US Treasury website where they have a search engine for OFAC. I am not on the search engine so it couldn't have been an OFAC violation at Treasury. My guess was they received a change of address to Argentina when I requested a benefit letter at the FBU at the embassy here and that trigger an investigation when the SS address didn't match my Schwab address.
Last night I received an email saying the money will be in my account by noon on Monday.
Anyway, I will find out exactly what the reason was for the delay so it doesn't happen again.
Many banks and brokers do not allow clients to be living permanently outside the USA.
