i noticed a thread from 2009 about octoberfest in villa gral belgrano and although i'm sure other than prices there should be some good info there. Anyone going this year? any tips, must do, must avoids? any good brews? prost!

I went last year and it is really good fun. We stayed in Cordoba city and took the bus to Villa Belgrano - from what I remember it was really cheap (the bus, that is).
The actual beerfest isn't so cheap. It cost us ARG$70 for the entry, then something like ARG$50 for a mug (which you get to keep forever and ever, or until it breaks on the way home). The mug then gets refilled TWICE for free, then you need to start paying. Depending on the size of the mug, the drinks can be pretty damn expensive - we were looking at at least ARG$30 each one, so drink slowly. I would imagine that this year it will be more expensive.
The atmosphere is great though, and the town is really nice with people from all over Argentina and the world. I can't remember any stand out drinks, but just sample everything local and you can't go wrong.
I hope you get better weather than I did, and if you are taking the bus back to town, don't forget to use the loo BEFORE you leave or else your back teeth will be swimming by the time you get back.
Enjoy.

I was planning to go there this year. Also interested in tips for accommodation. Heard that most hotels are really expensive over the Oktoberfest days ...

If you plan to stay in Cordoba city then I can highly recommend a place called Baluch Backpackers. It is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. Reasonably priced, comfortable, clean and no time limit for breakfast. The owner, Gil, is one of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Just got back from Gral Belgrano and Cordoba province. Had a great time. People are very friendly and they are gearing up for October fest. Seems like it would be a great time. I cannot make it , but have fun all who go !!
