I am a retired senior gentleman, have apt in Palermo until Nov 1, have been here 2 weeks and now looking for further adventures, day or overniters out of BA. Where does train from Palermo station go and what is at end? Is Mar del Plata a good day/overniter? Bus trips preffered to see country side. Any and all ideas appreciated. Also, maybe some one for dinner companion some evening. Suggestion of inexpensive hotels at destinations.
I plan on going to Montevideo for a few days after Nov 1, suggestions as where to stay?? If looking for a partner for trip or meals, I may be the one. Aloha Jim

Palermo to San Telmo is about 30 minutes by subway or an hour on bus 29. Maybe 20 minutes by taxi.

I think the bus to Mar del Plata is about 5 hours. I believe there is also a train. Many people disparage Mardel for being dirty and crowded but I liked it. I've never been in the high season of Dec/Jan/Feb. Maybe a good time to visit is early Dec or late February to avoid the peak.
