I've read a couple old threads on organic produce, but I thought it might be time to pose the question again. Can anyone advise on where to find organic produce? The vegetables here are so bland (particularly zucchini and carrots) and I have no idea if they are GMO or doused in pesticides.

Someone mentioned the San Telmo market in another thread, but I'm not sure if the produce is organic or at the very least, flavorful. I'm in Congreso but I will travel (a reasonable distance) for good produce!

Thanks in advance for your tips.

here's my collection of links on the subject (not that I have actually tried any) . You can always go to El Galpon on Wednesdays (mornings only?) or Saturdays (all day) if you are near Chacarita/Colegiales but I think the options on these websites are probably more varied. Also my friend runs La Buena Tierra organic delivery but only delivers as far as Palermo as she's based in Zona Norte: http://www.labuenatierraweb.com.ar/

So I just discovered last night that Yelp exists in Argentina (very excited) and I found this too: http://www.yelp.com.ar/biz/zucchini-buenos-aires?osq=organico

Organic or GMO , local veduleria or Jumbo , wash all veggies in a little soap and vinegar to be sure they are clean. Rinse well. They do not taste better , but at least the are clean.....

I may add a few: Buenos Aires Market (happens once a month at different locations, not everything is organic but good stuff), Granomadre (Soler & Acuna de Figueroa, and another location in Martinez I think, great store), San Telmo Verde market (you can look em up on facebook, it's quite small but worth visiting once), Mercado Punto Verde (Castillo & Cordoba, also small), Organic Way store (400 Juan Bautista Alberdi, Caballito). Sabe la Tierra is a market in Vicente Lopez, but they recently started scheduling a fair in Palermo one weekend per month. Also, someone told me about Feria de Agronomia, but I've yet to check it out. Really interested if other people can suggest more places too!

I want to buy everything I feed my body from organic producers which are continuing to increase in number. I have shopped online with Tallo Verde weekly for several years so I know all the delivery guys by name. They also marketed their produce at weekend ferias in the city.

Recently I added El Brote Tienda to my organic shopping agenda to buy what Tallo Verde doesn't have. I crave a salad every day with organic kale, and Tallo Verde doesn't have it for harvesting. My order delivered today included a kilo of kiwi, a kilo of green apples, a kilo of plum tomatoes, 2 kilos of lemons, and a half kilo of strawberries. The total with delivery charge ($400) to my door amounted to about ten dollars.

Here is a good way to wash produce, especially if it's not organic. Glyphosate has been linked to breast cancer. Paraquat pesticide (banned in the EU since 2007, but still used in the US and Argentina) is linked to Parkinson's disease. Most of toxic chemicals can be removed using this simple wash with baking soda.

Let's eat well and avoid toxic chemicals at the same time for a long and healthy life on earth.

I've been buying produce from El Brote Tienda for six months and no longer order from Tallo Verde. I order what I need for the week on Monday morning and receive the delivey at my door in two to three hours. The delivery charge is $500. The guys travel on motorcycles from Chacabuco. I can't get organic kale anywhere else!

Payment can be made in cash or MercadoPago. I highly recommend El Brote.
