Passport Renewal

Hello everybody

Does anyone know how I can renew my British passport here? I am assuming I dont have to return to the UK to do this.

Easy, just take the ferry (Google: Buquebus) over to Uruguay for the day and get your passport stamped on your return in. Good for another three months. I recommend Colonia for a day trip, and try a weekend in Montevideo.

Thanks for that, may be I was unclear: I need to RENEW the actual passport itself which expires in June.

I currently have visa for the next three months in Argentina.

You have to send it to washington !!

The UK has one centre for passports in North and South America.

Details are available on the Embassy web site

Passports haven't been issued by the Embassy for a year or two now

Perhaps you could renew it on The Falklands. I would think that the locals there have to get their passports somewhere.

Scratch that. It appears that they have to send away for their passports as well.

yes this really sucks, the UK dont giive a monkeys about expats in Latin America, whereas up until 1 year ago they did.... got my passport renewed 3 times here, and one of my sons. Now you have to send original documents insured to Wash DC, pay loads more and just hope nothing gets lost in the post.
