Hello,

I am new to the forum but was hoping someone can help me. I am originally from los angeles and have recently moved homes here in ba. In my room there was some paint peeling with what looked like a crystallization of some sort. I was experiencing eye allergies and was told to scrape the old paint with a spatula, bleach the area and ventilate the room.

I did, and since that moment I have had a strong metal taste in my mouth, tingling in my arm and foot, fatigue, depression, underarm pain. I have seen several doctors here and they refuse to beleive that there is a correlation between my symptoms and what i have inhaled. I am convinced I have some sort of toxin in my body. Is there an american or foreign doctor here in ba that can help me look into this further?

please let me know what to do.

thanks.

you did not use anything to protect yourself like a masc or something? I do not really know what this could be, but don't stop to look for doctors because in a lot of building there are still colours with led. Don't panic but might be good to test for led (bloodtest)!

There is no doubt that there is a correlation and you do require to move out of this unhealthy enviroment to improve your health.

I would suggest that you try to cancel your contract for rental with a fair compromise

Not to be flippant but if you have a real problem don't you think you should see a doctor? I don't think an internet forum is the right place to seek medical advice.

It doesn't sound like a mold allergy either but then again we all react differently.

Metallic taste is a symptom of lead poisoning (among other things) but I can't imagine they used lead paint on the walls. Was the paint on the walls/ceiling or on the wood frames?

You might be better off seeing a specialist rather than a regular doctor.

You could try Sara's suggestion. But I'd go to an allergist first.

Hope you feel better.

She's not looking for medical advice. She's looking for a recommendation for a doctor.

Sort of, she is asking what to do. Obviously what she ought do is go to a doctor, have herself checked out, depending on this they could refer her to an appropriate specialist if needed. People recommending specific medical specialties or trying to diagnose her problem at this point just may create more confusion.
