Okay so someone today posted a link to this blog. Very first time I had heard of it. GREAT BLOG !!!!!.

http://pickuptheforkbuenosaires.wordpress.com/

I read through the first 4-5 pages and just had to try a couple places on there. This blog is a must for any expats interested in taking little eating excursions around the city.

So anyway. I decided to try BeFrika and Muma's Cupcakes.

Nice websites but the music if f***king annoying. Mute that ish.

We hit Muma's first, the place was pretty packed, half expat girls and half argie girls :D lol

The people behind the register speak perfect english. I got 8 cupcakes to go. They packaged them up in a nice box for me and sent me on my way within 5 minutes. Total cost was $ 80 pesos. So just about $ 10 pesos or $ 2.50 USD per cupcake. Well worth it in my opinion as the cupcakes were delicious ( Yes I stuffed my face with 4 cupcakes  ). And i'm pretty sure there isn't another shop like this in Buenos Aires, at least that I know of.

Next we hit BeFrika. There were a few customers in there, a couple expat girls and a couple locals. I had a box full of cupcakes so we decided to get take out again.

I ordered the Honolulu Burgers and my friend had the Franky and Johnny Burgers. It took about 15 minutes to get our order out. They had wifi so I got a little work done answering emails while I waited. The people behind the register spoke perfect English and everyone was very polite and efficient ( yes I said efficient, yes im talking about a restaurant in Buenos Aires, and no im not high, well maybe just a little. j/k ). Total for four mini burgers and 2 orders of fries was $ 79 pesos, or $ 20 USD. A little pricey for BA standards but worth it in my opinion.

The Honolulu burgers were a little plain so I added some Santa Maria style BBQ sauce I brought from California. Not fully convinced, will try something different next time. My friends Franky and Johnny burgers were great ( I pilfered one of theirs because I'm a fast eater and they are not :) ). I would order it again. And probably will.

Total damage for everything was about $ 40 bucks. Well worth it and basically I feel like a fat ass right now :D

The blog is great, I can't wait to try a few more suggestions I've stickied into my Android browser.

CHECK IT OUT ! YOU'LL MOST DEFINITELY HAVE FUN.

It's funny that you went to both those places today. When you posted the link about the burger place earlier today it made me think of Muma's with the excess packaging... LOTs of excess packaging at both of these places.

Haven't been to the burger place but I work near Muma's. The cupcakes are good but they raise the price frequently to the point where they are now AR10, which to those of us earning pesos is quite a lot.

BTW, there are at least 4 (probably more) other cupcake places in the city.

Yeah alot of excess packaging.

Now do tell. I want names. And where are they ??? I love cupcakes like a fat girl loves, well, cupcakes :)

Oh, boy! Let me look them up for you... Just yesterday I saw mini cupcakes sold by the kilo! Where was that??? Ugh. There is Pop Cake in Hollywood, on Nicaragua... I'll get back to you in a few mins. I personally haven't tried them! I've only tried Muma. BRB.

lol

My waistline is dooooooomed !!!!

:)

Thanks, I will be trying these shortly and reporting back.

I'm currently eating a Red Velvet cupcake

I'm being foiled by the internet... I've found only other cupcake places that deliver & you need to order in advance. Sounds good but can you wait???

But I KNOW there are more out there that are walk in stores. I just can't think of them right now. Plus you can now find them in regular bakeries and tea/lunchy/brunchy type places. Like I said above, just yesterday I saw mini cupcakes being sold per kilo. I just can't remember where it was! :(

I'll keep thinking about it & will inform you as soon as I think of something!

Thank you so much. I personally like the specialty stores. I find they have better quality and more variety. Storefront or not, as long as it's their specialty i'm willing to try it. I will be trying a few of these shortly.

Thanks for helping me put on an extra 5 kilos btw ;)
