Greetings! I am planning the move to BA in November/December 2011 to teach English and want to ensure that I have all of my loose ends tied up prior to my departure.

I am single, and am planning on naming my mother as my POA (Power of Attorney) as a safety net incase something should occur rendering me incapable of making my own decisions, or in case of taxation/bank account problems. I know that I need to have the POA notarized, however is there an international equivalent required for it to be recognized in Argentina? Or even BA, specifically? Is the POA something I should provide to my place of employment? I am planning on keeping a US-based bank account open, as well as opening an account at HSBC, in case that is something of importance that might influence your answer.

Any and all advice on this subject is appreciated!

Thank you so much for your help!

Amie

I would do a POA in spanish and put that it's valid in Argentina. Notarize it, and then get an apostille certification. If you need details send me a PM.
