Why don't Argentines take sandwiches seriously? You know with large choice of (chunky) bread types and fillings.

A sandwich can be interesting, healthy, filling and good value for money compared to other meal options.

Bagels?

Huh?

I can think of at least a half dozen more amazing takeaway sandwich places.
And thats not even counting stuff like falafel sandwiches at all the middle eastern places, or choripans, which are not sandwiches, but certainly man-portable.

Ok I dont know BA that well. But its not part of the general culture perhaps just some middle class. The white sliced bread with margarine and thin slice of cheese and ham or salami seems to have the sandwich market no?

Not exactly sandwiches, but not to be missed, and you can hold em in your hand-
Friday and Saturday only, Medio Oriente, Cabrera and Malabia- Shawarma that is killer.
And, in Almagro- LA CRESTA! they call em wraps, they are gigantic and amazing.

La Cresta!! I live a few blocks from this place. It's the best goddamned to-go food in the city and I swear I am tempted every night to walk over there and buy dinner instead of cooking. I've been four times in two weeks. The portions are like what you'd get in the U.S., I am not kidding. You get a lot of food for your money. They have platos del día as well. The best tex-mex I've ever had in Buenos Aires was from there, a HUGE quesadilla with succulent rotisserie chicken, the black bean and veggie mixture from their salad bar, cheese and a ton of guacamole. Fifty pesos. Cannot recommend the place enough. Everything is super fresh and made when you order it. Great service, too. They run a tight ship. Really can't say enough good things about the place.

Looks amazing! The wrap and the food bar in the photos looks like it beats the hell out of CBC, for example...

Everything at La Cresta is delicious.
2 kinds of potato salad, a different dinner entree each night, lots of great side dishes, whole roasted chickens, burgers, and those amazing wraps.
It is well worth the trip.

We should host a G2G there, then! Possum, are you listening?
