Purchasing Airline Tickets Online

With cc you might be able to buy it, worked for me always, but not for everyone. You will pay official dolar price + 35%.

Unless you buy the ticket from a local agent, in which case the amount charged to the card will be in pesos and will already include the 35%.

One hopes that with the lifting of the cepo at some stage, this retention will be abolished.

Once the cepo is lifted, this retention will naturally be gone.
Its whole raison d'etre is to stop using credit cards and air travel as an end-run around the cepo.
Raising the price of the legal dollar and keeping the 35% retention would be absurd.

So from tomorrow, with our Argie credit cards we will be buying flights — and other foreign purchases — at 13.50 with no retención?

Someone please explain to my tired brain how I can take advantage of this/avoid catastrophe in my upcoming European trip.

You can hurry up and buy tickets now. And if you have a local credit card, purchase it in cuotas sin interes, which in this country is above all a hedge against inflation.

If you buy a ticket for 12000 pesos in 12 cuotas, your last cuota will be way cheaper, in real terms, than your first one.

Note that this will be likely the case after the cepo ends as well.
