question about withdrawing USD at ATM Colonia

Hi everybody,

a few years back it was possible to withdraw USD at ATMs in Colonia, Uruguay. Almost any bank had the option.
Does anyone know if that's still possible?

Any info is highly appreciated.

It's still possible. All ATM's give you the choice of USD or pesos uruguayos.

Do you know the limit on how much you can withdraw at a time? Can you make more than one withdrawal in a day?

Last year the limit was $ 200 US per extraction maximum 2 extractions per day at a Bank. So one had to visit 6 banks to get US$2400..!!
There was a US$5 fee per extraction. If you extract dollars in the AM then after 4 when thy replenish the ATM's is a different period..! The Banco de Uruguay would sell up to US$1000 via teller with US Credit Card

Years ago I used to make three 300USD each day (900 USD), then sleep in a cheap B&B ,and the next day get another 900USD, then came home

The Bank in Colonia debits your account for US$205 . The fees on your bank side for an international cash withdrawal are a separate issue.
