When is it customary to pay the commission to the real estate agent? An agent I'm working with has mentioned that **"Los honorarios profesionales que me corresponden se paga siempre el mismo día de la escrituración"**—which means the professional fees are always paid on the same day as the closing.

Does this match your experience? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Yes you take your pile of cash and you divy it all up the same day, some to the escribano, some to the owner and some to the lowest form of human life the real estate agent.

Haha, another guy who's skeptical of the local real estate agents. Im keeping things tight with these realtors. Never felt quite this anxious about buying real estate before and been doing it a long time

You will be OK as long as you don't trust a word they say.

I paid the agent's commission for the first apartment I bought at the escritura.

I reserved the apartment with a deposit of $1000USD. There was no pressure to pay the commission before the escritura.

There was no boleta, either. The apartment was vacant and we had the escritura (with ""llaves en mano") exactly ten days after I met the agent and saw the apartment for the first time.

I was asked to "deposit" a commission (% of the offer price) in order to start the negotiations so that the immobilaria could remove the listing online. If the negotiation failed, the commission would be returned in full. The final price required a little extra commission and it was paid at the Escribano.
