Recommend a book

Hi fellow readers-- this subject of recommending books and discussing them is exactly why BAexpats will be having its first meeting of a monthly book club tomorrow, Friday the 26 of July at 3:00 at my apartment in Recoleta. Well be bringing snacks and I'll be serving hot and cold beverages. Since tomorrow is our first meeting we'll be creating our reading list for subsequent months based on our topic for tomorrow: "some of my favorite reads and why!" We will also have a free book exchange--bring a book to pass on and take a different one home!Everyone in this forum is invited. PM me for the exact address. Alicia

A while back I was trying to get caught up with the classics. I read John Steinbeck's East of Eden. It's a masterpiece. It won the Nobel Prize for literature. A little hard going in the beginning but wait till "The Woman" show up. You will not be able to put the book down.

Here are some others I recommend.

John Perkins. Confessions of an Economic Hit Man.
Adolfo Bioy Casares. Dream of Heroes.
Camilo Jose Cela. La Familia de Pascual Duarte.

I'm going out of town for the weekend. Otherwise I would attend the book group.
