Salary for cama adentro vs cama afuera?

Who earns more?

A maid who works cama adentro (lives in the house) and has full room and board or one who is cama afuera (works set hours and lives elsewhere)?

It seems to me that the cama afuera should make more as the cama adentro has room and board, but an Argentine friend told me it is the other way around as the cama adentro is supposedly always on call.

What do you think?

Over the last several months, I've tried to help a couple friends looking for someone cama adentro to care for aging parents. Fact is that there are few people willing to do this work, and they tend to want a lot of money to do it - more than the comparable sueldo for a full-time mucama. Then again, it's really a 24x7 job for which the maid basically gives up her life.
