Foreigners can now enter Argentina vaccinated and with 48-hour antigen test.....effective January 29th.
The same thing that enables Argentines and residents to return to the country without the PCR test, now enables VACCINATED foreigners having completed the vaccination schedule as defined by the health authorities of the country of vaccination. This at least FOURTEEN (14) days before entering the country with PCR or antigen test (in the case of this test it is allowed up to 48hs previous to the initiation of the trip). Individuals shall state this fact in the affidavit required by the Direccion Nacional de Migraciones....And, as I understand it, those entering from bordering countries do not need to be tested if they are vaccinated. New criteria for Covid-positive cases: which provinces test only those over 60 and at-risk groups?
Several districts adhered to the recommendation of the National Ministry of Health. In the meantime, the sale of self-tests is delayed. ANMAT approved the use of six self-tests to detect Covid. They were scheduled to go on sale this Tuesday but there is still no news. The shortage occurs just when swabs are restricted and there are many who need them to justify absences from work. This leaves a large number of people uncertain as to whether or not they have contracted the virus. Many continue to circulate and generate new infections.

The recommendation stipulates that from now on those who have two or more symptoms (or only one if it is a sudden loss of taste or smell) and meet at least one epidemiological criterion should not be swabbed. That is, being a close contact of a confirmed positive case, having participated in an event or sharing a work space where there are at least three confirmed cases, or living in an area with a very high incidence of infected persons (more than 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days). The objective is that the provincial and/or municipal centers prioritize people with symptoms compatible with Covid who are over 60 years of age or are in one of the risk groups (pregnant women, immunosuppressed, oncology patients, among others). In turn, only one person per family group is tested.

Since this announcement, several provinces have already adopted this measure. Except for Cordoba and the City of Buenos Aires, which will continue to test everyone as in the past. As in previous resolutions adopted by the Federal Health Council, these jurisdictions "dissociated themselves" and decided to maintain the tests. The same had happened in the previous relaxation of swabs, when it had been decided that they were no longer necessary in the case of close contacts. Swabbing by province....

The problem is that, despite the restrictions on swabbing, neighbors continue to go to the testing centers. There are those who lie when asked about symptoms and whether they were in close contact in order to access the test. Many are unaware of the new health criteria, but in other cases they go anyway because they have symptoms and live with people at risk or their jobs require them to have a swab in order to be able to return or to be given paid leave.
