I found out that Western Union is not allowing anyone to send money internationally. I have to send money to Brazil, they prefer dollars of course, and was wondering what methods besides Western Union has anyone tried. Does anyone know if Money Gram or More Money allow international transfers? So Western Union and Paypal with an Argentine bank account are definitely out, thanks to Queen Cristina K.

If the Brazilian person you're trying to send money to has a PayPal account, there's absolutely no problem. PayPal in Brazil works exactly as it does in the US. The Brazilian person can get the money in his/her Brazilian PayPal account, and transfer it to a Brazilian bank account for free (or plus a small fee if it's less than R$200 reais).

You can either transfer USD or Reais, but they won't be able to transfer the USD to a bank account as there are no USD bank accounts in Brazil. If you send them USD, they can either convert it to Reais or use the USD through PayPal (i.e. to purchase things or transfer the USD to an American bank account).

Brazil is not as Argentina at all - believe it or not, things do work there!

But in Florianopolis there are less places to pay with credit card than even in Argentina. The problem is Paypal doesn't let you send money from an Argentine account.

You are comparing Florianopolis to Buenos Aires, while to use the same scale you should probably compare it to Salta or Mendoza (not even Córdoba or Rosario). Sao Paulo or Rio could be compared to Buenos Aires, and you can pay almost anything with your credit card there.

Anyway, you don't need an Argentine PayPal account - why don't you open an American PayPal account or an account from wherever you're from? Even if it's an Argentine PayPal account, you can still send money to a Brazilian account using your Argentine credit card (it will cost you something around 5%).

I helped a friend out by sending the equivalent to 500us from my UK account for a deposit on a holiday in Brazil. It took about 3 weeks to clear before the money was deposited in the recipients account. It cost 28us for my bank transfer charge, maybe you could get someone to do a transfer from another country or your own bank if it's abroad.
