A friend of mine said he was doing Duolingo before he came for a visit -- free online learning (not just spanish, french, german etc)

I had a look through, I tested out of most of the skill level tree (subjunctive tripped me up a bit of course), it seems pretty good, however I don't know how helpful it is to learn versus to test your existing skills. Seems to be some lack of instruction, but hey, it's free, they have a lot of listening sections. It's kind of language learning in a gaming frame of mind, so a bit addictive as well.
