what company do i go with for texting, and local/ld calls... i dont need data for 3g i can handle the wifi hookup on it unless there is an unlimited plan i should know about..

If you only make a few calls a month, any company will do:

If you dont have a DNI you probably wont be able to get a contract so it will be Pay as you go/Prepago/Tarjeta.

Chips can be bought for any of the above companies for about AR$10 -15 at a locotorio/corner store etc

Each company has it own plans and benefits. Free calls to one number (of the same company) if you recharge A$30 per month, some have promo days: buy AR$30 get AR$60....etc..

Claro:

AR$ 1,59 Min to any cell or landline + plus extra if long distance AR$0.35

AR$ 0,39 text message

Example: a AR$20 card usually gives AR$8 promotional credit:


Vaild for September, but usually the same every month.

One voice and one text number free - must charge AR$30 every 30 days and have at least AR$3 credit. - you may have to wait a while to get the free voice/text activated??

Movistar:
$5 card valid for 5 days
$10 card valid for 10 days
$20+ cards valid for 30 days

Also have double your credit days, ie buy AR$20 get AR$40

Some complicated packages but couldn't find the standard rates for call!!

So what's best for you...maybe Personal with the Text message promotions, but you will still need to top up with another card to make calls.
