Supermarket Blackout Movement /tomorrow Friday

Saw the "these are the ones stealing your salary" posters?
I don't have a supermarket, so really wouldn't know how big the profit could be. Now, if the Gov't and related associations claim that there's such a big rip off going on, why don't they run a "supermercado popular" with the prices they claim to be fair?. The profit would be lower per article, but surely huge overall as the entire low and middle classes would go for it. People wins, Govt wins.

Ah right...Aerolineas...Trains...etc

F' politics.

In the supermercado Popular there would be no profits after all the coimas and corruption. Would have to be subsidized by CFK

Someone told me theres an idea to take the Mercado Central to the barrios. I guess in little stores. It would be a success.

Yes, problem is that you heard it from Samid

Really hope they'd do that. But I think it will be like most things done by this (and previous) Govts, corruption/coima, inefficiency, needing subsidio to maintain the program, etc
Cheap basic housing+food and free healthcare+education should be the basics for any country if you ask me. Charge whatever you want for premium goods, entertainment, etc.

They've already got the ferias de abastecimiento barrial that have set prices regardless as to whether they are selling in recoleta or paternal. http://www.buenosaires.gob.ar/areas/espacio_publico/mantenimiento_urbano/ferias_mercados/ubicacion.php?menu_id=23688

One of the locations they have them is right outside my son's daycare, so I do occasionally buy. The produce is good, there's also boothes for cleaning products, there's usually a fiambreria stand, a granja/carneceria and a pescaderia

The campora were supposed to buy the small chain that was owned by yanks and went out of business a few years ago. Carrefour ended up buying most of them.

Keep it up people. Soon Argentina will be begging Uruguay for toilet paper.

What they don't realize is that, yes, maybe the big chains are trying to make an extra buck by raising prices a little more than they should, but I don't think it's so bad because they have to compete with each other. If prices go up it's because of inflation, not corportate greed. If it were about corporate greed the US would have the highest prices in the world. It's free market competition that keeps prices in check. As far as I can tell there's free market when it comes to supermarkets. That been said, some products like dairy are controlled by two big names and there's no real competition, hence the price of dairy is through the roof.

Basically if the K economy didn't suck, there would be no excuse for the supermarkets to raise prices and this discussion wouldn't even be taking place. The inflation comes, then they raise or over raise prices. Not the other way around.

The only reason I didn't go to the supermarket today was the rain. Other than that, it's a chore I happily leave to my other half.
I prefer a more military style approach.

Was the black out a success? What is the purpose of it ? What was not sold on Friday will be sold on Saturday. The supermarket monthly figures will be the same as usual?
