Surgeon Needed: Dog With Leggs Calves Perthes Disease

My 8 month old Yorkie was just diagnosed with Leggs Calves on Saturday and I off to see a specialist surgeon in Martinez on Tuesday. However, in true Argentine fashion, the surgeon is non-committal about his availability for quick surgery. My fear is that we will have to wait (and wait) and my little guy is in pain.

If anyone has had any experiences with canine hip surgery or can recommend a surgeon, it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know of a surgeon but Federico is an amazing vet and I'm sure would have a referral. He works at the big animal hospital (forget which barrio) and teaches at the university so he's well connected in the field.

When my pup needed emergency surgery we took him to the 24 hour animal hospital, Paunero, which is now located in barrio Norte (French 2673). They took such great care of him and are some of the best animal surgeons in Buenos Aires. Hope your guy is feeling better soon!!

Be sure to ask for an NSAID, Rimadyl, etc while you are waiting to help reduce inflammation and pain for your little guy
I went through one ruptured ACL and another torn with one of mine and the first had to have surgery. The surgeon made us wait a few weeks with NSAID and pain meds to bring down swelling before the procedure. The surgery was done in California however.
