Televisions

Here is the place from where I ordered my new TV. Prices are good, they ship carefully anywhere, and most importantly if you do not plan to use that TV only in Argentina (which doesn't even use the same PAL as in Europe, for example), you can get a TV that plays in all zones worldwide and operates on all voltages.

I didn't find any hidden costs. It's just the TV, the shipping, and the import duty.

The link. http://www.world-import.com/

I'm thinking about doing this, and was wondering if you actually used world-import.com to deliver a TV to you in Buenos Aires or were just considering it?

I found www.puntomio.com, but their page says Argentina restricts the import of TVs:

Thanks.

I watch a shit ton of TV no matter where I'm at. I love how I got to see all the original Beverly Hills 90210 series starting with the pilot episode in chronological order.

Are all electronics cheaper in Chili? Are they cheaper (compared to Argentina) or cheap (as in 'normal' price in US/Europe)??

Chili is a pepper or a dish that people eat in the US who like spicy food. Our neighboring country to the West is Chile (or Chee-lay) for those who constantly pronounce it wrong. :)

Also you have to consider that the TV power supply is different voltage and frequency and on top of that the TV system here is PAL N (Argentina only) not compatible with the North American NTSC system.

yeah, basically TV's in Argentina cost about twice what they cost in the US, if not more. Your best option is to bring a TV from the States.

The other option you have is buying an HD projector instead. A good quality 1080p HD projector can cost as little as $ 1000 usd. You might even be able to find one for less.

Just for fun I went to world-import.com and placed an order. There seemed to be no problem sending it to AR. Shipping was expensive (by Fed Ex) but maybe no more than the extra baggage cost if you bring it in. Then, of course, I cancelled the order.

I'm going back to the states soon and was thinking about buying a set there and bringing it back, a la Sleuth. I was curious if there was anymore advise out there on the subject ?

Sleuth-how is that Samsung holding up ?

Was thinking about bringing a couple of the Samsung 46" TV's that I have in the States. Will they work on this system? Also, how about DirecTV? I have the boxes - will they work? Thanks
