Hello Guys and Girls

I am thinking ahead and trying to be smart (rare occurrence) and plan my Temporary Residence Renewal for star of next year.

I enquired with the agency who processed my initial application which cost $2,500 and they quoted me again $2,500 which I thought was a little high as I imagine the renewal process is nowhere near the amount of docs and appointments as the initial application.

Does anyone have experience renewing alone the Temp Residence or is it advisable to have a local specialist? I'm sure I met all criteria (monthly transfer, time spent in country) and so have no worries about that, I however am not familiar with the process to renew.

Any advice is appreciated.
Regards

What country are you originally from? I could probably help you out. I've done a couple of temporary residency renewals. Charging $2,500 is insane.

UK. And yes I thought it was a typo but seems like that is the fee.

Is the process mostly straight forward as in no curve balls or impossible to complete documents?

I'd say it depends on what residency category you are in. How is your Spanish?
Exactly. The category is important to know.

Three rules of thumb:
  • It's good to plan ahead.
  • A renewal is barely any less involved than the initial application, for the Rentista and Pensionista categories if you are in one of those. You have to present all the documents again (updated), apostilled and translated.
  • Believe it or not, if you are paying a lawyer to take the hassle out of the process, $2500 is a very good price.

Yes I was wanting to hire the same service again for less hassles but I felt the price was rather high.

I have been just quoted $800 from another service in Buenos Aires for the same renewal which is more along the line of what I expected.

Celaeno and associates charges $800 for renewals...I've used them for my original temporary and the next two renewals. The were perfect. Gabriel speaks English and has a law degree from the USA as well as here. His main assistant, Lucia, speaks English as well. Can't recommend them highly enough.
I might mention the speed at which my original temporary residency was done...I arrived in the country on October 2nd...had my precaria the next week and then disposition on October 18th! The DNI card wasn't available until March however, lol...can't blame the attorney on that though.

Tha's way too expensive, someone suggested $500-$800 should be reasonable, still expensive.
Alternatively you can do it yourself, if it's precaria renewal, you can try in the Migracion website and pay in Radex, I did myself.

Don't waste your time or money with Celano. His assistant Lucia Gauna neither replied to me nor to my Norwegian friend when we inquired about their services. All she does is enter the same data into Radex that you can do. Probably most people here can recommend an official translator who can have your documents translated and legalized, and which are then available digitally. If you need a translator who will legalize the documents, send me a DM. I paid 131,000 pesos for two translations and legalizations of federal income benefits letters. That cost included the courier.

Migraciones has significantly improved the Argetntine visa(s) program online. Unless you have some type of extenuating circumstance such as a criminal record or repeated immigration violations, you can do it yourself through their Radex website. Yes, the process used to be grueling, but not now. It's all online except for the one required trip to their office on Antártida for physical document review and fingerprints. I am headed there in an hour. Good luck.
