The End of Closed Neighborhoods?

Only for those who respect and follow the law, the others get premium privileges and VIP treatment.

PS: These polices ALL directly alter property value, something the current administration seems to be very focused in.

El Queso, sorry I can not remember where I read/saw that "the government was not going to pursue this", but I was/am aware of Agustin Rossi's position and that Julio Alak basically said "sounds good to me". But using your criteria (that is perfectly logical) one would not consider Aníbel Fernandez to be a rogue official. Aníbel served in Nestor's cabinet, then Cristina's cabinet (Minister of Justice), then as Cabinet Chief and is now a senator. Remember, this is the guy that in early June organized a visit (with another goof ball, Moreno) to 5 or 6 of the major Casas de Cambio and told them that on the following Monday the "blue dollar" would not open above 5.10. Then the following week a bunch of other government officials were back peddling and distancing themselves from the guy (as someone on the Forum said) with the rat on his lip. Heck, I remember even Cristina chastised him in a public speech a few days later. Having said that, as most of us know, anything is possible here, but I think that this plan (of opening barrio cerrados) would be difficult. I mean, it would amount to expropriating private property, oh, oops, that's already been done. Well, let's hope for the best.

They are indeed clowns, all of them. Stuff like this could mean one (or more!) of at least three things I can think of:

- They are really stupid and are just saying things that they think Cristina would like to hear and get called out for it afterward.

- They have been told plans in confidence and are so stupid that they let stuff that's being planned out by accident.

- These are planned incidents to both intimidate opponents of Cristina with scare tactics (a taste of what's to come after the next round of elections, maybe) and unite the poor behind Cristina as people think she is fighting the good fight.

In any case, they're clowns.

El Queso, please, you give them far to much credit, they are simply babbling clowns, and perhaps someone who has a bit more smarts has told them to stop babbling. Honestly, if I thought that there was any possibility of this ("opening" barrio cerrados) happening, I for one, would be extremely, extremely nervous and downright scarred.

I think CFK and co are pretty darn smart. They know their populace very well and play with them accordingly. They know what ticks and they test things on people to see what their reaction might be. They have no problem backtracking their utterances if at first it seems like what they uttered was unpopular.

You can't be an idiot and still get away with so many changes in such a short period of time as CFK and cronies have been able to do.

There is a huge number of people who voted for them and gave them the power to do exactly what they wanted.

With the attacks on people in her own party who don't toe the line there aren't many who vote against her wishes.

But you are right, they know how the people who voted for her tick.
