The Falklands Play

It's very good this.
Yet again the BBC showing how well they do drama.

This is also free on Amazon Prime. This is highly rated on IMDB (7.7). I haven't seen something so overrated since Interstellar. The actors are all B List. It's pretty hard to pull off Margaret Thatcher as it is. The story is only from the British view. It would have been far more interesting to see what was going on in the Argentine side as well. The money they saved on the actors was not used for productions values - everything was shot in the studio. No scenes in the South Atlantic nor Buenos Aires. No scenes in London either - just indoors.

Last night I had watched The Gathering Storm about Winston Churchill in the years leading up to World War II. Also free on Amazon Prime. This was a very enjoyable production rated lower at IMDB (7.6). But this had magnificent actors: Albert Finney and Vanessa Redgrave. Also magnificent scenes set at Churchill's estate Chartwell. Highly recommended.

It would have been most interesting to see it from the Islanders' side.

A Falkland's War mini-series shot on location and from the point of view of the islanders, the British in London, the Argentines, and the soldiers and sailors on both sides would be outstanding. If I was the director I'd even give you a cameo as a shepherd and Steve as one of the invading soldiers. This would be a sure hit on Netflix and Amazon Prime (unless they made Christopher Nolan the director)

Having lived there more than a year (1986-7) and having revisited half a dozen times, I think I know that point of view pretty well. The best film I know about the conflict is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiZE9nQfe9U, which was partly shot in the Islands. It's best from the viewpoint of Argentine conscripts, though.

I envision a 10 part miniseries. First episode is the normal life of an Argentine young man on his family farm on the pampas, a young man on his family farm in Wales and a family in the Falklands - all to eventually meet. And also scenes in the cold corridors of power in Buenos Aires and London.

We could divide up the screenplay amongst ourselves.

It was a play for TV mate, hence it probably had a limited budget and the actors were far from B rate.

On the other hand, An Ungentlemanly Act, with Bob Peck and Ian Richardson (House of cards) was a lot more gritty.

Is this available anywhere online? Unfortunately it is not on Amazon Prime.

Does the "ungentlemanly act" refer to something Argentines did? Are we then to infer that Argentines are not gentleman?
