April 10, 1938 The largest Nazi celebration outside Europe, Luna Park.

Scary how much support they had here.

Scary? Yes. But not really surprising. The father of one of my Argentine co-workers is a declared Nazi and a racist. According to her (who does not share her father's views at all) he sees most of other South Americans as sub-humans.

Wow, never seen those pictures. But there is some videos on ''youtube'' about thata crazy meeting.

Thank you. Never saw these before. But they certainly help to clarify how much front end work the Nazis had invested in Argentina in preparation for........Plan A or Plan B.

Is there any written history of who from the "motherland" was in attendance at this mega rally.

You might find the book; Aftermath: Martin Bormann and the Fourth Reich an interesting read on this subject. As I recall it explains how the NAZI gold was transported here when it was clear that they were to lose the war in Europe.

Also, it shows how the Vatican helped with the issuing of AR passports to those who were fugitives in Europe.

One person who was there was Clarín founder, Roberto J. Noble. At the time, there was a thriving intellectual Jewish community here, with many Yiddish publications being produced, and the largest Yiddish theatre scene in the world. The Nazi activity and Argentina's welcoming of fleeing Nazis after the war put a damper on the city's reputation as a hotbed of Jewish life.

You write on your blog:
In the late 1930’s, at the behest of the Peronist government, pre-World War II Nazi rallies were held at Luna Park creating extraordinary scenarios within that looked more like Berlin than Buenos Aires. A 1938 Nazi rally attended by an astounding 20,000 included the participation of important politicians including Roberto J. Noble, the founder of Argentina’s largest newspaper, Clarín.

I find that interesting since the "Peronist government" didn't exist at that time? Juan Peron got elected for the first time in 1946....? If you don't have that fact correct, how can the rest be correct? No, I am not googling it, nor am I a K supporter.... I just find it strange that you write "Peronist government" in the context of pre-WW II!
