The pandemic: The view after 5 months

Latest opinion polls show that 60% of the population want the quarantine to be softened. Since join the main concern of the people (coronavirus or economy) has gone from 48% to 58%. Only 39% see coronavirus as their biggest concern - ironically the lowest since the start of the pandemic at the time we have the highest circulation of cases and deaths. People are waking up to lies, propaganda and failed policy making.

What does this mean for Albie? His approval ratings for the handling of the crisis have plummeted from 79% in in March to barely 41% now. More people rate him and the government in general terms negatively than positively. The biggest problems they see - corruption (e.g. Judicial reform, vicentin, high profile murder etc.) insecurity (e.g. prisoner release, waive of crime) health (e.g. failed policies) and unemployment (e.g. failed policies)

If mid-term elections scheduled for next year were held today only 38% would vote for Frente de Todos. Which means their only hope of winning right now would be that the opposition is so fragmented they can still form a government with the remains.

Just wait for December when the brakes come off price controls and we finally see the inflation that has been kicked along under the surface these past months.

As far as I am concerned, keep digging your electoral graves my amigxs.

I predict something else will happen. Why do Larreta and Kichilof go to Olivos instead of doing it by vídeo conference. A leader with health concerns should be doing what Biden is doing. Keeping contacts to a minimim. These guys here are not taking enough care and the virus is rampant. Albie could get the virus very easily, and has underlying health issues. The implications of that are enormous.

The common cold comes from a limited number of corona and rino viruses. The've never been able to develop a vaccine for the common cold despite it causing more productivity losses than perhaps any other illness. Many immunologists have been saying from the onset that a vaccine is unlikely. The vaccine news is both to provide "hopium" for the stock market and also to have another excuse to keep things shutdown. We'll repoen when the vaccine is developed, i.e. after we've all starved to death.

Hard editorial by Luis Novaresio: "After five months we deserve more transparent information about the deceased"
After a journalist from his program revealed that the numbers of infections and deaths from coronavirus that are reported daily are not reliable, the host of Animales Sueltos questioned the criteria with which "the curves" are drawn up and the different stages of quarantine....
His reflections derived from what was seen in the previous broadcast of Animales Sueltos, when the journalist Rosario Ayerdi revealed that the number of deaths reported on a daily basis does not accurately represent the amount recorded on each day, given that the data load arrives several weeks late....

Coronavirus in Argentina. In the first person: the story of the Santa Fe doctor who had Covid-19 twice

The news shocked the world in the last hours: it was scientifically proven that a Hong Kong citizen was infected with coronavirus twice. Until that moment no cases of reinfection had been documented with laboratory studies. However, in Argentina the samples of a doctor from Santa Fe are already being analyzed, who also had the SARS-CoV-2 virus twice, recovered and has already returned to work in the Helvecia Community Health Care System (Samco) , a town of 10,000 inhabitants.
The protagonist of the story is Alejandra Müller, a doctor with a postgraduate degree in ermegentology and who is currently studying a second specialization in gerontology. She is 34 years old and runs the Samco de Helvecia....

This is the equivalent of someone being struck my a lightning twice. Can it happen? Sure. Does it happen in 99.9% of the time? No.
Most people will get an antibody response within a month of infection and virtually all people will get a T-cell response as well. Some people (especially those with light or no symptoms) might not build a measurable level of antibodies BUT they do produce special T cells that will identify the virus the second time around and prevent reinfection. Based on our understanding of coronaviruses in general it's expected that in MOST people there will be immunity for at least 12-24 months AND even after that a reinfection (say 3-4 years later) will likely be less severe. There is nothing absolute but we are talking majority of cases; everyone's body is different.

The case in HK is sort of confirmed but has not been scrutinized properly. And even if confirmed, he likely has some sort of immune system deficiency or genetic condition that prevents him from "properly" responding to infections. So there is no reason to freak out.
