Dignified and joyous. The happy couple deserve all the happiness they can find.
Meticulously organised and above all, a truly happy day cutting a swathe through the craziness of the world today.
Frankly, I felt proud to be British!

I will be eating scones for lunch today in honor of the happy couple. :D

Interesting. I didn't think it was that important anymore. The couple of friends I have in England were very angry about the money waste and think it is really an attempt to distract the people from budget cuts and other economic problems.
Not criticising, just our of curiosity, why is this event that important to you?

Hello
Very nice wedding it was a pleasure to watch them on tv, not a bad idea some scons for today, greetings from a local
Reina

Well I'm a kiwi, normally anti monarchy but I enjoyed the wedding today! And it's all because it was just like a real life fairytale. I always wanted to be a princess when I grew up, just like Princess Catherine.)
I also watched the whole of Maxima's wedding to the Prince of Holland (and cried when they played the tango...)

I don't feel the need to explain why it's important to me, but I will.
Most of we Brits hold the monarchy in high regard, particularly Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who has reigned with dignity since 1952, if I'm not mistaken.
This Royal family has been shaken to it's core in recent decades, not least the debacle of the late Diana's 'marriage' and subsequent death.
Strangely, one could almost feel Diana's presence today.
The naysayers and anti monarchists are entitled to their opinions, but today was one of celebration and a new chapter in the ancient line of the British Royal family.
You don't have to be British to appreciate the pageant and ceremony that we do so well, but it does help to be British to truly understand it.
I thought the Aston Martin was a beautiful touch by the way :)

Amargo I think both opinions are being voiced but from watching the event it was clearly a much lower key event than that of Princess Di, to try and reflect the tougher times the country is facing. The wedding was important as a historical event - this was a queenmaking day (for the future) as much as the funeral of K was the death of a royal ...you can ignore them, criticise them etc but it doesnt make them any less important in history. To be perfectly frank UK democracy is a little more mature and so weddings arent politically ordered to distract voters (unlike wars here..)

Exactly what I was thinking actually, but the celebratory Malbec got in the way :)
