The Royal Wedding

Don't know if you noticed mate, but the Arg press already has her married to Harry aka, the wild one :)

The couple of friends I have in England were very angry about the money waste and think it is really an attempt to distract the people from budget cuts and other economic problems.

I didn't watch even a minute of it today, not really interested. But it didn't cost the UK anything, it was a hugely profitable event, what with all the tourists flying in and spending money on plastic flags, fish and chips and everything else. If we had a royal wedding yearly, our finances would be in better shape actually.

The wedding was beautiful to watch - great music, a beautiful liturgy and impressive pageantry. I thought the trees were a silly idea but that was my only criticism. From a purely aesthetic point of view, it was like watching a well staged opera. What's wrong with that? Man does not live by bread alone.

Sorry to have to point this out guys, but this is the 21st century, Monarchy is EXTREMELY outdated. The only reason you are interested in it because you like to read the gossip magazines, or simply because you just want an excuse to get shit faced (how English). Seriously, get over it already. There is frankly no other justification for this insanity.

Monarchy is a hard thing to get out of your system - we've had it for 1000 years after all :) I enjoyed watching the wedding - I'm an Aussie and a Brit - and whilst objecting to her majesty having willingly sat by and watched the UK being turned into a third world sewer filled with 5th columnists and islamic extremists/terrorists and enemies of the state, the people and its culture etc. I know I am one of a long line in my family who have put on the uniform and sworn that oath of allegiance... :) So yes - for me personally mixed feelings today - it makes me think of the times that were and what we have sunk too now... I guess this is one of the things I love about Argentina - for people like me it really is a fresh start - and a chance to forget about those things we have left behind - those things we feel betrayed, disgusted and disappointed by :)

For me its been a good day and night - some good red, some good Oporto, some great food and a fun night - I still have to wake up for work in the morning but what can I say, I have survived yet another royal wedding - and even if I am starting to show my age I am still here - for me maybe that is reason enough to celebrate in and of itself ;)

Johnno out...

PS I won't even go into how the Irish part of me feels - there are only two ways to deal with that - one involves psychotherapy and the other involves finishing off this bottle of Limoncello I seem to have been left with while all the younger party goers have evacuated the apartment to spend the night dancing...
