Thoughts on Evita Peron

I feel like Evita Peron is either worshipped or hated by Argentines. I've read up on it a decent amount and I can understand why. Do you expats (or natives on this board) have any thoughts? Since CFK seems to sometimes aim to achieve the fame of and love Evita had, this topic has been fresh on my mind.

Exactly ..Evita is loved or hated... What she did do was give millions of the govt money directly to the poor in very open and self gratifying ways. (not exactly legally and also did manage to keep the largest portion for herself and peron ) but she did give a lot of aid to the poor...something the poor in this country remember. She created schools many with her name on them and housing projects...They were the first Argentinian poilitical group to use the power of the people to support a takeover and then Evita made sure the public stayed loyal to her and her man Peron...a very astute man in his own right,,,I am not a fan of either for the record and was astonished when he was voted back in in the late 1972 early 1973 but she did try for whatever reason to do a lot for the poor directly...something very few poiliticians in this place do once they get into office

I think Evita was a lot like Cristina... or actually the other way around, since it is Cristina that is trying to emulate. Cristina hopes to one day have schools, parks, and movies named after her and be remembered as some type of savior. I believe they both really cared about the poor, but in a sort of narcissistic "I'm an angel" type of way which I actually think is quite common of Argentines... "soy lo mas!!" Humility and humbleness is nowhere to be found, neither in their self patting-of-the-back nor in their appearance.

Helping the poor is commendable, but when you do it for self-serving reasons and that "help" is short lived and causes more problems than solutions, then I'm not sure it's so great.

Hola Todos! I commend your passion for Argentina!, I appriciate your concerns about the current administration, but however DON'T EVER CRITISIZE EVA PERON!!!!!! SHE had GIVEN HER LIFE! for the SALVATION of Argentina!!!!!!!!SHE gave the Argentines HOPE! SHE gave them the right to establish unions!
