How do I go about buying tickets for the Copa America?

I think at this late stage you're stuck paying a scalper. The cheapest I could find when looking last week to Argentina vs Bolivia was u$s400.

See this thread (now at 44 pages) about getting tickets, and about LP´rs getting together before matches.

Don't expect to get much info from baexpats.

Some original tickets for some matches still available form Ticketek.

All Argentina matches, and expected Argentina knockout stages sold out, including final in BA.

Ticketek, official vendor::

Be careful about private sellers. Very careful. Scalpers could be selling counterfeit tickets. And, tickets have not even been delivered to anyone yet.

The Argentina Football Association has relaeased this notice due tothe large number of counterfeit tickets now being sold on websites and elsewhere:

Rough translation:

AFA info on tickets for Copa America

All persons who have purchased a ticket for the next America's Cup "Argentina 2011" must go through a double control.

These checks are immediate ways to detect the authenticity of every ticket.

The Organizing Committee of the Copa America "Argentina 2011", wishes to inform all those who have purchased or plan to buy your ticket for this event, that if they were not purchased via Ticketek Argentina SA they will not get by the controls. And if you try, we will report you to the appropriate authorities.

And we recommend not to buy your ticket on any website, or ftom any retailers, because they will be fake tickets"

Note to those buying tickets on Ticketek:

The dates, times and locations of the ticket pickup for the various options have been changed by mass mailings to previous ticket purchasers, but the OLD info is still on the purchase site at this time!

Once you purchase and choose a pickup option, you canNOT change it. If you picked option 3 for city-of-match pickup, you have to pick up at the boleteria (which is not at the Stadium, except for San Juan and La Plata). I have not seen the info for Santa Fe, Jujuy and Salta, but it looks like Sunday pickup, even for matchdays, is ruled out.

Check the specific extra threads for meeting places in the different match cities (listed above) for copies of the relevant emails as to pickup times and locales in each city.

A big example is San Juan, where you now have to pick up tickets at the stadium 20 kms south of town, as opposed to the previous location of the boleteria in the city centre.

Be careful with your planning, or you may end up screwed!

Tickets are still available (I believe) as long as it's for two teams that now one has any interest in watching. Like Venezuela vs Peru* or something.

*Don't know if they actually play each other.

Only seats for the semi in Mendoza are available now on Ticketek. The quarters and 3rd place match in La Plata.

You take a big risk buying form resellers, and you may be asked for id. I get my tickets on Tuesday, and will examine them for my name or a chip, but there may be ways to check these. Besides, there have already been reports oif counterfeit tickets being sold.

UPDATE ON AVAILABLE TICKETS: I JUST DID AN UPDATED SEARCH ON SEARCH ON TICKETEK, AND THERE ARE NOW AVAILABLE TICKETS FOR MANY MATCHES, PUT BACK ON FOR SOME REASON, probalby due to cancelations of packages due to uncertainty of volcano.

THE ONLY ONES WHERE TICKETS ARE N-O-T AVAILABLE AT THIS EXACT MOMENT ARE THE FIRST TWO ARGENTINA GROUP MATCHES, THE DOUBLE MATCHES IN MENDOZA AND SAN JUAN, BRAZIL VS PARAGUAY IN CORDOBA, THE SEMI IN LA PLATA AND THE FINAL IN BA. ALL OTHERS ARE AVAILABLE NOW, BUT MAY NOT BE FOR LONG. SUERTE!
