Time to Move to Rio de Janeiro?

I love rio also, I was only there for 5 days and stayed in the Copacabana area. Really a lovely place.

I too love Rio. I had the luck of spending a week there in 2021, when post pandemic it was still not overcrowded with tourists, so I really enjoy it. I loved Ipanema better than Copacabana, but I also liked Botafogo. I assume the stats in the OP are taken from Numbeo, right?

My other half and I are considering it for our winter escape. The only thing that puts me off is the safety issue. I’ve been a few times and its definitely a lot rougher round the edges. Any big city in LatAm is compared to BA.

Love Rio, especially Leblon area.......my favourite and only a short flight from BA with better climate and great beach lifestyle. More stable politically and economically and now cheaper

Excellent stuff to know, and forgive me, please, for being a sarky bastard if I say that --

"More politically & economically stable than Argentina" seems like a very low standard of comparison. I love this country, there's nowhere I'd rather be, but...

Strange that you have been one of the most vocal supporters of Milei but prefer left wing Brazil !
Far less radical in Brazil than the Argentina left wing as the Brazilian economy and inflation comparisons show. It’s the beach lifestyle in Leblon and Ipanema that I really enjoy with regular trips to Buenos Aires
