I've enjoyed this thread very much!

I think the tourist bank account should just consist of a cut-the-line pass at PagoFacil and a handy hard-case for Evitas free with every tourist visa stamp for faster, more practical results...and the digital nomad pass should be a 90-day DNI-free Telecentro contract.

Or the tourist bank account could just be a simple prepaid Visa debit card. Pick up your WU/ Xoom etc, and at the same time deposit it on the card.

But of course re-inventing the wheel is much more fun for bored public employees and policy makers who think they are the air we breathe yet have no clue on what products already exist or how a bank actually works or how much IT investment is required to set up a new product such as this.

It would pretty much suck to be here for any length of time as a resident without a DNI. You need it for everything. Even a digital nomad is going to want to buy something online at some point.

This rather amusing article contains two gems:

1. The UN has been caught advising its short term visitors and personnel to bring dollars and change them on the black market.
2. Since the announcement on October 28, the takeup of the Tourist Bank Account has been precisely zero. Not a single instance.
