Hello,

If you are familiar with this phrase in Spanish, do you have any ideas for a natural sounding way to translate it into English?

Example:
Los bidones son prácticos pero hasta ahí no mas.

I don't need the whole phrase translated, just a natural sounding way to say "hasta ahí nomas".

As the Brits often say, thanks a lot.

'up to a point' is a more formal possibility. Or 'not so much' in a less formal context.

Ok, I should have suggested translating the whole sentence.

The bottles are practical "up to a point" gets the message across, but it doesn't sound very natural.

Thank you for your suggestion.

"up to a point"
"have their limits"
"to an extent"
"but that's where it ends"

I think the best sounding would be "Bottles are practical to an extent."

The original phrase sounds a little funny to me even in Spanish, so difficult to translate. :p Does it continue on to say why they're not good? I think the meaning they might be going for is that bottles are only somewhat practical.... or practical, but that's where the benefits end. :)

"enough" meaning here: they just serve the purpose, there are better solutions but this "will do" for now.
